Instructing EMTED
Most instructions begin with a conversation about the building and the decision it relates to. From that we agree the question to be answered and the scope needed to answer it.
- Initial discussion. The building, the decision and the timing.
- Proposal. A written scope, programme, fee and the basis of our work, including any limitations and any information we will need.
- Appointment. Agreed terms of engagement.
- The work. As scoped, coordinating any specialist input the client appoints, with early notice of anything significant.
- Reporting. Conclusions first, with sources and recommendations, and a discussion where useful.
Fees are agreed per instruction and set out in our proposal.
What to tell us

- The decision it relates to and who is making it.
- The timing, and any date the decision depends on.
- What information already exists, such as reports, drawings or certificates.
